When it comes to four channel video mixers, the Panasonic MX50 has a long history! Even though it's not in production anymore, there is still strong demand and a second-hand market. on the other hand, the Edirol V4 mixer is a new unit that brings not only a 4 channel video mixer to the budgets of many, but it's also very high quality. Major Differences:
The MX50 is a Video and Audio mixer, the Edirol is video only
The MX50 has an external camera input -used for DSK (DownSream Keying) -useful for text overlay.
The MX50 has it's controls for wipes and effect as buttons and dials on the mixer, the Edirol V4 has on-screen menus accessed via the preview monitor.
The MX50 has BNS sockets, the V4 has RCA/Phono sockets
Although the MX 50 has a lot going for it over the V4, the V4 wins in portability and price.
