Video Capture Cards: Osprey 100 V's Aver PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 22 May 2006 19:32

Overview

We wanted to test the quality difference between the Osprey 100 and the Aver video capture card. -Both of these cards have been tested for use with EasyWorship. The Osprey does cost more, but is this cost worth it?

Test Machine:

Athlon 1.8Ghz, 1Gb RAM, GeForce FX video card. Osprey 100 and Aver DVD Maker PCI Capture cards
Windows XP, EasyWorship 2.3.9
Osprey Driver Version 2.2.2

Testing

We tested the 2 capture cards with a Sony DVD player used as the source. We played the menu sequence of StarWars. We could have used a video camera instead, but thought the DVD would help us tell the difference in quality more easily.

Results

These 2 images were taked with a camera. The bottom-left corner is a close up, click the image for a biger image.

The images show that the Osprey 100 card produces an image that is both clearer and has better colour. (take a closer look at the text, and the little people on the right)

This was only a quick and simple test, we'll do futher testing and report back.
